Systems Engineer - based in Lichfield with UK Travel
Objective and Purpose
The System Engineer implements technical customer solutions within a Professional Service Project.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Deliver activities as part of Ascom Professional Services, incl. analysis of requirements analysis, design, installation, commissioning and hand-over of customer solutions
Work on projects to implement technical customer solutions that integrate with existing systems:
- Implement systems according project description
- Do an intake of work on-site for project definition when needed
- Execute small installation tasks in small projects where the task is too small to assign a separate installation engineer
- Report frequently on project progress to the Project Manager
- Instruct customer on the use of the system/solution when needed
- When needed take on project responsibility for smaller projects, including requirements analysis, design, installation, commissioning & hand over of customer solutions (smaller is defined as max. 1 external party, less than 15K)
Proactively collaborates with customers on-site & provides consultancy that help customers to identify best possible additions/options that the customer will gain from
Accountable for the performance of customer satisfaction & lead time of assigned project task KPI's
Demonstrate and maintain own expertise on latest technologies & methods through successful completion of training
Establish good documentation standards to preserve the traceability and serviceability of delivered products & solutions
Interface with customers & peers to collect information needed to perform professional services
Qualifications and Work Experience
Technical Engineering: Mid-level (Practical education)
Application Engineering: Mid-level (Practical education)
H&S: Certified according to local regulations and Basic H&S awareness
Practical Application: An engineering approach with connotations of precision, predictability, measurement, risk mitigation, and professionalism
5+ years’ experience in a technical System Engineering position or similar
Skills and Competencies
Highly skilled and knowledgeable about Ascom products portfolio; deep knowledge of & technical expertise in Ascom systems and solutions.
Understand technical specifications & capabilities of relevant key systems and solutions
Basic understanding of port opening and firewalls.
Time management, strong prioritisation and organising skills
Strong customer service skills
Ability to write well-constructed reports
